Roma plan to replace Renato Sanches once they find a solution for him, and they have earmarked Oriol Romeu as a potential new addition. He has progressively fallen out of favor this season. The Giallorossi can only sign somebody on loan, La Repubblica informs (via Calciomercato).

Despite the club’s wish, the Portuguese midfielder isn’t close to leaving yet. He’s not enthused by the destinations that have emerged so far, Besiktas and Olympiacos. PSG will end his temporary spell only with an alternative on their hands.

If Roma and the outcast’s entourage solve the problem, Romeu would be one of the top names on their wish list. He has appeared 20 times so far. After opening the season as a regular, he has logged just 80 minutes in the past seven games and was unused in four of them.

Per Sport (via Fantacalcio), the Giallorossi are keen, but the Spaniard is unlikely to transfer soon. He inked a contract till 2026 upon returning to Catalunya after spending time at Chelsea and Southampton.

Our Take on Roma and Romeu

It’s noteworthy that they are plotting to add a substitute. They have been tipped to use the room for a defender first, and he hasn’t played much at all. The prospective newcomer would probably be somebody equally unsettled they could get basically gratis. Since the two matters are directly intertwined and they have more urgent priorities, everything will come down to the final days of the session.
