Manchester City’s impending signing of Claudio Echeverri is another example of how well-run the champions are as a club. The treble winner’s imminent capture of one of the premier young talents also shows the value of the club’s relationships with other clubs around the globe.

In an interview published on ESPN Deportes River Plate sporting director Enzo Francescoli went into detail about the Echeverri deal. He said that while the world champions won’t pay the full release clause in the youngster’s contract River Plate is beyond happy with the deal. He explained: “A sale without going to the clause as is mostly the desire. Very similar money and he stays with us for one more year. Things have been done well, with the boy’s will, his representative and City, who could have waited six months to take him. You have to take a lot of things into account. Today the market and the Argentine situation, too.”

What the impending deal highlights is the fact that Manchester City are well-run club and respectful of the relationships they have in football. With the young Argentinian midfielder’s contract due to expire in 6 months, the champions could’ve secured his services for free. Or they could have paid the release clause in the contract of Echeverri and had the player join the club immediately.

Instead, they have secured a deal for the wonderkid that is below the reported release clause. It also helps maintain their profitable relationship with River Plate. The youngster will spend a year on loan at the Argentine giants before joining City. It is a similar deal to the one they struck for Julian Alvarez.

City’s impending Claudio Echeverri deal is another example of just how well-run a club City has become.
